14th Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference, co-organised by the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 18th to 19th. As a major landmark platform for the construction of new land and sea corridors in the west, the Chongqing Municipal People's Government Ports and Logistics Office, along with the Chongqing Jiangjin District, led a delegation to participate in the event. They set up the Chongqing Pavilion to promote the achievements of Chongqing's port and logistics infrastructure, as well as the new developments in the Chongqing Hub Port Industrial Park, to global logistics industry professionals.
Chongqing is the only city in China that hosts five types of national logistics hubs: port-type, dry port-type, airport-type, production service-type, and trade service-type. In recent years, Chongqing has accelerated the construction of new land and sea corridors in the west, constructing the Chongqing Hub Port Industrial Park to high standards and quality, and accelerating the move from the inland to the open frontier. As the hub for the Chongqing Hub Port Industrial Park, the Jiangjin District encompasses key areas such as Luohuang Port, the Xiaonanya Railway Logistics Hub, and the Chongqing Jiangjin Comprehensive Bonded Zone. The seamless multimodal transport system is its key distinguishing feature. The region now regularly operates over 10 train routes, including those linking China to Europe, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, and Chengdu-Chongqing. The logistics network covers 124 countries and regions, and 532 ports globally. Goods leaving Jiangjin can reach the sea within two days via rail-sea intermodal transport, while international rail freight takes five days to reach ASEAN and 12 days to Europe.
“Marriage with Hong Kong” for Win-win Situation
Exchanges and cooperation between Hong Kong and Chongqing have a solid foundation and a long history. Since the implementation of the “Chongqing-Hong Kong Conference Co-operation Mechanism,” the two sides have promoted all-round cooperation in 11 areas with 47 specific actions, resulting in a total import-export volume of CNY 55.48 billion. This time, Chongqing is participating in the exhibition in Hong Kong, focusing on promoting the Hub Port Industrial Park. This move is set to foster deeper collaboration between Hong Kong, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the western regions. By jointly building the new land and sea corridor in the west, both sides aim to continually expand the space for cooperation and explore its full potential.
Chongqing-Hong Kong Logistics Cooperation Roundtable
On November 18th, Chongqing hosted the Roundtable on Chongqing-Hong Kong Logistics Cooperation during the 14th Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference. Representatives from the Hong Kong Association of Freight Forwarding and Logistics, the Chamber of Hong Kong Logistics Industry, the Hong Kong Shippers' Council, and other business associations and companies engaged in in-depth discussions with the Chongqing delegation. They shared insights into the industrial layout and business environment of the Chongqing Hub Port Industrial Park, as well as the planning and operations of Chongqing's high-speed rail freight logistics. The session allowed Hong Kong industry representatives to gain a better understanding of the new directions in Chongqing’s port logistics construction and how Hong Kong’s trade and logistics resources can be better integrated with the market needs of Chongqing for mutual development.
Chongqing Hub Port Industrial Park
Chongqing Hub Port Industrial Park is a landmark project for the construction of the new land and sea corridor in the west, an essential support for the rise of the central Chengdu-Chongqing area, and a key driver for the development of the national strategic hinterland of the new land and sea corridor in the west. Jiangjin District is the carrier, pioneer, and core area for the Chongqing Hub Port Industrial Park.
