Mutual Approach to the World

Chongqing Delegation Participates in the 7th CIIE

The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) was held in Shanghai from 5th to 10th November 2024. Chongqing organised a trade delegation comprising over 660 enterprises to participate in the event, seizing global opportunities.

The 7th CIIE, themed “New Era, Shared Future,” continued to serve as a platform for international procurement, investment promotion, cultural exchange, and open cooperation. It featured six major exhibition areas: food and agricultural products, automobiles, technology and equipment, consumer goods, medical devices and healthcare, and trade in services, alongside an innovation incubation zone. The total exhibition area exceeded 420,000 square metres, with participation from 152 countries, regions, and international organisations. A total of 3,496 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions joined the corporate exhibition, surpassing the figures from the previous edition. The event also hosted 297 leading enterprises across industries. Additionally, 124 new product launches took place, unveiling 176 cutting-edge technological innovations.

During the CIIE, Chongqing hosted a series of investment and trade cooperation activities titled “Invest in Chongqing—Discover Business Opportunities,” inviting representatives from Fortune 500 companies and renowned enterprises to showcase Chongqing’s investment environment and attract new business ventures. Over the past six years, the Chongqing trade delegation has annually organised 32 trade sub-delegations to attend the CIIE, achieving procurement agreements worth over $7 billion. The procured goods, including food and agricultural products, technology and equipment, medical devices, and consumer goods, have aligned with Chongqing's goals for consumption and industrial upgrades, significantly advancing the city's role as an inland open highland and an international consumption hub.

To fully utilise the CIIE as an investment promotion platform, Chongqing has hosted the Chongqing Investment and Trade Cooperation Forum for six consecutive years during the expo. This forum has brought together CIIE exhibitors, multinational corporations, and key business association leaders, leveraging the event’s reputation and influence in international trade to deepen global partnerships. Over the years, 102 investment cooperation agreements have been signed, amounting to over 140 billion yuan. Significant projects, such as the Bosch Industrial 4.0 Innovation Technology Centre, the first Sam’s Club by Walmart in Chongqing, and the China Resources Semiconductor Base, have been successfully implemented, turning “exhibitors into investors.”

Chongqing Investment and Trade Cooperation Promotion

The CIIE represents a significant initiative by China to actively open up to the world. Chongqing has utilised this platform to showcase its achievements in openness and highlight its advantages, sharing opportunities and fostering win-win partnerships with domestic and international businesses. On the opening day of the 7th CIIE, 5th November, Chongqing held its investment and trade promotion meeting in Shanghai, signing a batch of cooperation agreements totaling nearly 30 billion yuan.

Investment Promotion Matchmaking Between Multinational Enterprises and Chongqing was held concurrently.Thirty exhibitors and multinational corporations from the United States, Germany, Belgium, and other countries presented projects and technologies in search of partners. Fifteen small round tables facilitated closer, face-to-face communication, fostering a relaxed and engaging atmosphere. Although initially planned as a one-hour docking session, the meeting extended to two hours. Many guests were deeply impressed by Chongqing’s business environment and development advantages.
